ICSS - Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) Pilot & Technician Basic Course

The sUAS Pilot & Technician Basic Course is the perfect starting point for individuals who are new to CAP sUAS with less than 2.5 hours of UAS experience. Students will gain the foundational skills required to operate sUAS safely and efficiently, fundamental understanding of UAS technology, regulations, basic flight principles, and maintenance procedures. The goal of this course is completion of UAST SQTR tasks. A successful completion of an initial CAP Form 70-5u, providing the student is ready for the flight evaluation. 

Primary sUAS Airframe: Skydio 2/2+. 

Current Prerequisites for the Basic Course:

Minimum Age 16
Required before start of event GES
Required before start of event ICUT
Required before start of event FEMA Courses (IS100, IS200, IS700, IS800)
Required before start of event FAA TRUST Certificate (Uploaded and Validated in eServices)
Required before start of event Commander's Approval for Prerequisites, Familiarization & Preparatory Training (as applicable)

 

ICSS - Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) Pilot & Technician Advanced Course

The sUAS Pilot & Technician Advanced Course continues to build upon basic skills. This course is for students who are fully qualified in UAST and looking to build skills towards UASMP. Students will create geo-rectified images, and plan and execute simple flights. The goal of this course is successful completion of UAST SQTR tasks and UASMP SQTR tasks, excluding the last mission exercise for UASMP. 

Primary sUAS Airframe: Skydio 2/2+. and an introduction of a complex rotary wing airframe

Current Prerequisites for the Advanced Course:

Minimum Age 16
Required before start of event Completion of sUAS Pilot & Technician Basic Course
Required before start of event At least 5 hours of logged sUAS flight time
Required before start of event FAA Part 107 UAS Certificate
Required before start of event Current or previous CAPF 70-5u Flight Evaluation
Required before start of event Commander's Approval for Prerequisites, Familiarization & Preparatory Training (as applicable)

 

ICSS - Small Unmanned Aerial Systems (sUAS) Advanced Mission Set Course

The sUAS Advanced Mission Set Course will provide preparation for real word mission training. This course is students who have at least 15 flight hours looking to expand their capabilities and prepare for real world missions. Students will complete UASMP complex rotary and fixed wing training, advanced mission flights, night flights, subterrain flights, simulated FEMA disaster flights, counter sUAS flight training and other mission sets. 

Primary sUAS Airframe: Skydio X2D, X10D

Current Prerequisites for the Advanced Mission Set Course:

Minimum Age 18 (Must be a Senior Member)
Required before start of event Completion of sUAS Advanced Pilot & Technician Basic Course
Required before start of event At least 15 hours of logged sUAS flight time
Required before start of event Current or previous CAPF 70-5u Flight Evaluation
Required before start of event Currently qualified sUAS Technician in Ops Quals
